Most everyone is thinking about how to live their lives in a green and sustainable way these days. Being a greener human with less impact on the earth can usually be hard without spending additional cash. In addition, many people would prefer to eat exclusively organic foods both for health reasons and for less impact on the environment, but typically the expenses are prohibitive compared to standard food. Fortunately, you can become greener and save more by moving away from your normal clothes dryer.
Almost everyone has an electric or gas-powered clothes dryer. They use tons of space, are costly, hard to maintain, and usually not too quiet. Even worse, dryers use a huge amount of energy with every load of clothes which impacts the world and the cash! It is sad that those dryers are nearly universal now.
While those people which do the clothes in a coin-operated laundromat can avoid the cost of purchasing and keeping a dryer, and don't obviously pay for the energy consumed, you see the expense of a clothes dryer even more intimately as you deposit coin after coin into the machine week after week. The contribution of a coin clothes dryer on electricity consumption and global warming is the same as owning one personally.
An easier substitute to the clothes dryer is coming back: a clothesline! If you live in a place with outside space and a bit of sunlight, a clothesline can usually dry the clothing at no cost and with less effect on the planet. For those in suburban and the country, you probably have a bit of room area your lawn or patio to hang a clothesline. If you live in an urban area, some alternatives are using your balcony, stretching your clothesline between windows or even getting permission to set up a clothesline on the top of the unit!
People who don't always need a clothesline often buy a retractable clothesline. It takes up no room when you're not drying clothes and it's easy to put up when you have a bunch of damp clothes to dry. It's really the ideal method to dry some clothes without having an unattractive permanent clothesline running across your property. People can buy a retractable clothesline at almost any home and yard supply.
Often people are worried about whether their clothesline will really be effective in drying some clothes. Clotheslines are the genuine thing: they work. The clothes might not be dry in 45 minutes like your clothesdryer, but the clothes will dry within several hours in most places and emerge even fresher than a standard dryer. For those who do not believe me, experiment through leaving a wet piece of clothing sitting outdoors and see how fast it becomes dry.
Everyone should know that there is an easy substitute for the electric and gas clothes dryer that is greener and better: harness free solar power with the clothesline! If you don't require a permanent clothesline, consider buying retractable clotheslines instead.

It’s unfortunate that people got out of the habit of using clotheslines. They save so much energy, and it is kind of peaceful to hang the clothes.
Rainy days and winter make outdoor drying difficult, but people can air dry their clothes by using a indoor clothes drying rack like this one. Being round it works really nice under a ceiling fan!
